I often check out church websites as I seek ways to minister. Many websites say, "Come Join Us" and they mean it. They want their doors to be open to all.
Many churches are seeing that this is lacking however. People are not willing to risk venturing into a church. The church must go to the people, not with heavy-handed witnessing, but a testimony of a changed life through love. "May we help?" must become the attitude of the church in America today.
"Missional" is the word often given to this shift of perspective.
What are your thoughts about this?

Bob, as you said I too believe this is key to churches welcoming new people.
I believe the message: "We aren't perfect, and we accept unperfect people to our church" needs to be communicated more.
Many people don't attend church because they think everyone there is "better" than them. As church members, we need to communicate with people in everyday life (aka, living Missional) that even though we have a struggles and issues, it's still ok to attend church. In fact, people like "us" with problems and issues are welcomed and accepted at church.
Just my thoughts. . . :-)
Well said Chris. I was in church today and the pastor asked for a raise of hands for those who had been delivered by Jesus from some form or addiction; I'd say a third of the group raised their hands. It was a visible reminder that we all are sinners delivered by God's grace.
